My Personal Favorites of 2007

It took some time but I've finally seen enough of the "critically acclaimed" movies to decide my personal favorites of 2007. I might add pictures if I have the time but for now, it's just lists.

1. There Will Be Blood
2. Atonement
3. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
4. No Country for Old Men
5. Juno
6. Into the Wild
7. Lars and the Real Girl
8. Sweeney Todd
9. Zodiac
10. Gone Baby Gone

Who Won Personal Favorite

Best Picture
There Will Be Blood
Atonement
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
No Country for Old Men
Juno

These were my top five of the year. Tough category and it was hard for me to narrow it down. However I think There Will Be Blood should have won over No Country for Old Men. And I have a weak spot for Atonement and Jesse James. Oh, and Juno too. The only difference between my top five and the Academy's was Michael Clayton and Jesse James. Michael Clayton was good, but not better than Jesse James, in my opinion.

Best Supporting Actor
Casey Affleck The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
Javier Bardem No Country for Old Men
Paul Dano There Will Be Blood
Hal Holbrook Into the Wild
Tom Wilkinson Michael Clayton

Casey Affleck was phenomenal as Robert Ford. Bardem was good but I liked Affleck more. Paul Dano should have been nominated. He was snubbed but I guess Phillip Seymour Hoffam was good in Charlie Wilson's War.

Best Supporting Actress
Cate Blanchett I'm Not There
Jennifer Garner Juno
Amy Ryan Gone Baby Gone
Romola Garai Atonement
Saorsie Ronan Atonement
Tilda Swinton Michael Clayton

Like I said, weak spot for Atonement. And Jennifer Garner - maybe I'm a bit biased about that. And my favorite Briony from Atonement was Garai. Ronan was good though. And Amy Ryan stole every scene she was in.

Best Lead Actress
Marion Cotillard La Vie en Rose
Julie Christie Away From Her
Ellen Page Juno
Laura Linney The Savages
Helena Bonam Carter Sweeney Todd

Best Lead Actor
James McAvoy Atonement
Viggo Mortensen Eastern Promises
Daniel Day Lewis There Will Be Blood
Emilie Hirsch Into the Wild
Ryan Gosling Lars and the Real Girl
Johnny Depp Sweeney Todd
